Phantom(s)
at the Opéra de Paris
Since 2017, Devialet has been officially established in Paris’s Palais Garnier.
In collaboration with the Opéra National de Paris, the French audio brand opened its own boutique and demonstration space in the western section of the Grand Vestibule – the opera house’s monumental reception hall.
The opening coincided with the start of the opera season on September 21, 2017, marking the beginning of a partnership between two French icons: Devialet and the opera.
The Palais Garnier, inaugurated in 1875, is renowned worldwide for its rich acoustics, classical architecture, and pivotal role in French musical history.
For Devialet, being present in this building is more than symbolic.
As a Paris-based manufacturer of high-end audio products, the location embodies a philosophy where innovation, cultural heritage, and refined engineering converge. The boutique serves not just as a retail space, but as a place for sensory experience.
Acoustic Perfection
At the heart of the presentation is the Phantom I Opera de Paris edition – an exclusive version of Devialet’s renowned loudspeaker.
Each unit is adorned with 22-karat gold leaf, applied by the same craftsmen responsible for the restoration of the opera house itself.
The finish visually aligns perfectly with the golden interior of the Palais Garnier.
In the boutique, multiple Phantom I speakers are displayed in a carefully curated setup.
Visitors can experience a wide range of musical genres on-site – from classical opera to electronic music – allowing the power, detail, and spatial rendering of the system to be fully appreciated.
This article includes photos of both the Devialet space and the interior of the Palais Garnier, as well as video footage of various demonstrations featuring the Phantom I Opera de Paris.
Together, they offer a complete impression of this unique fusion of sound experience and historical context.
